Young people and the arts
Description
The Mencap arts team is working on a big project with young people about the arts. We began last year, and this year we are working with Arts Council England South West and Nokia to do more work with young people. When this work is done, all our findings will be published in a report.
In 2007 we talked to over 100 teenagers from Lincolnshire and Bolton about the arts. We invited them to take part in lots of arts workshops. They told us about the things they do, things they want to do and what things stop them. It was great fun, using puppets, drama, street dance, rap, visual arts and film. This short film was made by some of the young people who took part.
